東レアローズに７年間所属し、Vリーグのことも熟知している元セルビア代表、デヤン・ボヨビッチさんに、スーパーリーグについての意見を聞いてみました。ボヨビッチさんは、全日本男子の強化のためのプランを自主的に発表されるなど、日本男子バレー界に深く心を寄せています。
とのことです。詳細は上記リンク先を読んで欲しいのですが、私なりに要約すると、日本のバレーボールの強化にはまず、競技人口の増加が不可欠であること、そして人口の増加には、必ずしもトップリーグのプロ化が必須ではないことなどが語られています。
その中で、
セルビアにも2m以上の選手はいっぱいいるけど、よいプレーができていない選手もいるので、高さだけの問題じゃない。高さのある選手なら、日本にも2メートル以上の選手がいるが、今現在その選手はトッププレーヤーじゃない。それが事実。
長身者ばかりを集めて強化すれば良いってものではない、ということではないでしょうか。
